AMSTERDAM, N.Y., Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — GoNetspeed, the Northeast’s largest independent fiber internet provider, today announced plans to bring its ultra-fast, 100% fiber-optic network to Amsterdam. Backed by a privately funded $10 million investment, the expansion will bring symmetrical, multigigabit internet speeds of up to 6 Gbps to more than 8,700 homes and businesses, delivering the fast, reliable, future-ready connectivity Amsterdam needs to live, work, and grow.
Construction is slated to begin this winter, with the first Amsterdam households and businesses expected to access GoNetspeed’s 100% fiber network as early as spring of 2027. “Amsterdam continues to seek strong partners who can strengthen our infrastructure, provide viable service and support options for our residents and local businesses, and create new opportunities,” said Michael Cinquanti, Mayor of the City of Amsterdam.
“Whether residents are working, learning, running a business, or simply staying connected with the people who matter most, reliable internet is more important than ever,” said Richard Clark, GoNetspeed president and CEO. “A fast, dependable connection can open doors, and we’re excited to bring Amsterdam a fiber network built to support the community’s next chapter. We’re grateful to partner with the City of Amsterdam, where leaders recognize the important role that choice and connectivity play in driving continued growth and economic development.”
With momentum continuing to build across New York, Amsterdam will soon join more than 30 communities already served by GoNetspeed, including Buffalo, Utica and the Finger Lakes region. Building on the recent launch of service in both Oneonta and Norwich, GoNetspeed continues to expand its future-proof fiber network, bringing faster, more reliable connectivity to residents and businesses across the Northeast.
