MiSalud Health, the bilingual telehealth and on-site care provider for frontline and Latino workforces, today announced the launch of its Women’s Health Program, extending the platform’s existing bilingual, culturally competent care model across the full women’s health continuum from menstrual cycle through mental health and menopause. Built into MiSalud’s existing platform, the program can be offered to workers regardless of insurance status — a key aspect for industries competing for hourly or seasonal talent where service depends on front-line workers’ overall health and wellbeing.
Women make up 80% of the care MiSalud Health delivers to over 100,000 eligible workers. The new program organizes that experience into a structured pathway spanning cycle and reproductive health, pregnancy and postpartum support, perimenopause and menopause care (including hormone therapy and non-hormonal options). It also includes weight and metabolic health and mental health support, delivered in Spanish or English by native speakers.
Closing Data and Diagnosis Gaps to Inform Scalable AI Support
Women’s health research has long underrepresented women generally, and Spanish-speaking and Latina women in particular. Fewer than 6% of U.S. physicians speak Spanish. Further, most doctors are unprepared to discuss menopause: Only 31% of OB/GYN residency programs incorporated a menopause curriculum as of 2022. At the same time, screening for depression and anxiety has become more routine, but perimenopause and menopause symptoms, including mood changes, sleep disruption, and anxiety, closely overlap with those conditions, and clinicians and researchers are increasingly scrutinizing the potential for misdiagnosis.
Further:
- Women make up 66% of part-time workers, who are less likely to have access to employer-sponsored health insurance
- 45% of women have missed work because of menstrual symptoms
- 90% of women who miscarried wanted psychological support; only 30% received such attention
- 17% of women ages 50-65 have quit or considered quitting a job because of menopause symptoms.
Every menstrual cycle check-in, chronic condition visit, and menopause consult through the new program will add to MiSalud’s bilingual clinical dataset on Hispanic women’s health, one of the largest known in the U.S This data set will increasingly shape how MiSalud Health personalizes care and inform its AI-supported clinical engagement.
One Solution That Works for Every Worker
For employers, the Women’s Health Program expands access to whole-woman support without the admin, cost, or health plan gates of disparate vendors that weren’t designed for blue-collar teams. It integrates with MiSalud’s Chronic Conditions, MiMente (mental health), and Nutrition programs.
Every member starts with an intake conversation covering her life stage, symptoms, and what has gotten in the way of care before now, followed by an ongoing, personalized care pathway with direct referral to a MiSalud provider for diagnosis, prescriptions, or treatment.
- Cycle & Reproductive Health — menstrual health, PCOS and fibroid education, contraceptive counseling, and referral for reproductive care.
- Pregnancy & Postpartum Support — preconception guidance, postpartum follow-up, and continued monitoring for members with a history of preeclampsia or gestational diabetes.
- Perimenopause & Menopause — symptom relief for hot flashes, sleep disruption, mood changes, and genitourinary symptoms, including hormone therapy and non-hormonal options.
- Weight & Metabolic Health — chronic condition management for diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol, paired with nutrition coaching and GLP-1 medication support when clinically appropriate.
- Mental & Whole-Person Health — stress, grief, anxiety, and the mental health load that often goes unspoken, integrated with physical care rather than treated as a separate referral.
