Flagler students receive real-world experience while working at a local marketing agency in St. Augustine.
ST. AUGUSTINE , FL, UNITED STATES, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Mindful Solutions St. Augustine, a full-service marketing agency based in downtown St. Augustine, has developed a relationship with Flagler College‘s marketing program that offers students hands-on experience in social media strategy, digital advertising, and brand development.
At Flagler College, marketing majors are encouraged to seek out an internship during their college career not only to receive course credit but also to gain real-world experience in the field. Under their program, an internship is a semester-long, 3-credit course that counts as an elective toward major requirements. Students are required to log 120 hours total, based on 40 hours per academic credit.
The process of finding an internship can vary by student. Some apply through platforms like Handshake or LinkedIn, while others reach out to professors or network directly with local companies.
“I searched for marketing agencies in St. Augustine and contacted them directly,” said Flagler intern Mallory Robinson. “One of those companies was Mindful Solutions St. Augustine (MSSA). The owner set up an introductory meeting with me, and while MSSA did not have an internship program in place, they established one to support my educational and professional development as a marketer!”
The MSSA marketing internship offers a robust, hands-on curriculum that provides students with experience across a variety of marketing disciplines. Interns gain exposure to campaign development, target audience strategy, Meta advertising, social media content creation, email marketing, client relationship management, graphic design, PR, and more. The program is designed to complement students’ classroom learning by giving them the opportunity to apply marketing concepts to real clients, campaigns, and business objectives.
One of the most valuable parts of the internship is the opportunity to learn by actually doing the work. Interns are trusted with real responsibilities and encouraged to develop new skills along the way. This means that interns are able to expand their experience far beyond what they have earned in the classroom.
“Internships create tremendous value and long-term investment opportunities for our employer partners like Mindful Solutions, Flagler College, and our students, said internship coordinator Danielle Stanley. “At Flagler, we believe internships not only offer students a unique opportunity to ‘test drive’ a career, but they serve as the bridge from academia toward real-world exposure to the transferable and professional skills needed in the workplace. These internships lend our graduates meaningful, hands-on experience, stronger résumés, expanded professional networks, mentors, and in many cases, full-time job offers. As the internship coordinator for Flagler College’s School of Business, it has been one of the greatest joys of my career witnessing our graduates as they transform from college students into confident, ready, young professionals.”
Mindful Solutions’ internship program not only provides students with the practical skills employers are looking for, it’s investing in the next generation of marketers before they enter the workforce.
“You can read about marketing in a textbook,” said Sherri Cunningham, President and CEO of MSSA, “but you don’t actually learn it until you’re sitting in an agency, managing real clients expectations and real deadlines.”
According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers’ (NACE) most recent Internship & Co-op Report, the average intern-to-full-time conversion rate has climbed to 63.1% for 2024–25 interns, the highest mark in five years. For Flagler marketing students, this means real-world experience isn’t just something to throw on a resume, it’s a meaningful step in a career path.
