ST. LOUIS PARK, MN – August 20, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Car Donation Foundation, whose vehicle donation programs include Animal Car Donation, surpasses $200 million in lifetime giving, with proceeds supporting a network of animal rescue organizations across the country.
Car Donation Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit parent of Animal Car Donation, has surpassed $200 million in lifetime vehicle donations since 2010 — one of the largest milestones reached by any vehicle donation program in the country. Animal Car Donation, one of CDF’s three donation programs, directs proceeds from donated cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles to a network of animal rescue organizations providing shelter, veterinary care, foster homes and adoption for animals in need.

As Car Donation Foundation’s newest program, Animal Car Donation has contributed over $1 million to its partner rescues since 2021. Animal Car Donation offers donors a convenient way to support animal welfare by donating a vehicle rather than writing a check. They handle the logistics of the free pick up, towing and sale.
“An old car doesn’t do an animal any good sitting in a driveway,” said Loren Dorshow, Executive Director of Car Donation Foundation. “Once it’s sold, it becomes a foster bed, a vet bill covered, a kitten that makes it to ten weeks old. That’s the trade our donors are making, and we’re glad to help make it.”
Animal Car Donation directs proceeds to four partner organizations, each focused on a different corner of animal rescue. Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, based in San Francisco, rescues senior dogs — many considered unadoptable due to their age — and provides veterinary care, foster placement, adoption and hospice care. The Bond Between, based in Minnetonka, Minnesota, and formerly known as Secondhand Hounds, has rescued more than 35,000 dogs and cats since 2009 and also runs a pet food shelf and respite foster care program to help keep pets with their families during a crisis.
Bitty Kitty Brigade, based in the Twin Cities, is a foster-based rescue devoted to orphaned neonatal kittens too young and fragile for traditional shelters, providing round-the-clock bottle-feeding and medical care. Animal Haven, based in New York City, has found homes for abandoned cats and dogs throughout the Tri-State area since 1967, offering behavior intervention and enrichment to improve adoption outcomes.
Donations are not limited to cars. Animal Car Donation also accepts trucks, motorcycles, boats and RVs, with free pickup available anywhere in the country.
“Partnerships like this are critical for continuing the work we do,” said Rachel Mairose, Founder and Executive Director of The Bond Between. “Animal Car Donations saw an opportunity to transform something a donor no longer needs into life-saving medical care, pet food, and temporary foster support for families facing crisis. We are deeply grateful for their ongoing support of The Bond Between and so many others. Congratulations to the Car Donation Foundation on reaching this incredible $200 million milestone. You show us what philanthropy really means.”
Donors can hand over the keys and let Animal Car Donation handle the rest — free pickup, paperwork and sale — with proceeds benefiting animals in need. A full list of partner organizations is available at:

Having reached $200 million, Animal Car Donation is proud to keep growing its support for animal rescue organizations nationwide, continuing to turn everyday vehicle donations into shelter, care and second chances for animals waiting for a home.
