ST. LOUIS PARK, MN – August 19, 2026 – PRESSADVANTAGE –
Car Donation Foundation d/b/a Wheels For Wishes marks the milestone as a proud benefactor of Make-A-Wish.
Car Donation Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit parent of Wheels For Wishes, has surpassed $200 million in lifetime vehicle donations — one of the largest milestones reached by any vehicle donation program in the country. Wheels For Wishes, one of CDF’s three donation programs, has directed proceeds from donated cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles to support Make-A-Wish since 2010, helping grant wishes for children facing critical illness.

“Two hundred million dollars sounds like a big number until you translate it into what it actually is — thousands of kids getting to go to Disney World, or meet their favorite athlete, or just be a kid again for a while,” said Loren Dorshow, Executive Director of Car Donation Foundation. “Every one of those wishes started with someone handing over a car instead of selling it. That’s what our donors made possible, one vehicle at a time.”
Since 2010, Wheels For Wishes has helped grant more than 14,846 wishes through its support of local Make-A-Wish chapters across the U.S. Proceeds from each donated vehicle benefit the Make-A-Wish chapter nearest the donor, helping grant wishes for children in their own community. In some select areas, Wheels For Wishes benefits other children’s wish and hospital charities.
Those wishes are granted through 47 Make-A-Wish chapters across the country, from Alabama and Arizona to Wisconsin and Wyoming.
Wheels For Wishes is one of three vehicle donation programs operated by Car Donation Foundation, alongside Vehicles For Veterans, which benefits American veterans charities, and Animal Car Donation, which benefits animal rescue organizations. Together the three programs account for the foundation’s $200 million in lifetime donations.
Make-A-Wish America has publicly recognized the program’s impact. In a letter published by Wheels For Wishes, Make-A-Wish America President and Chief Executive Officer David Williams thanked the organization for support he described as translating into thousands of life-changing wishes for children across the United States.
Not every donation is a well-worn family sedan. Wheels For Wishes has taken in classic cars, boats, motorcycles and RVs over the years — including the original tour bus of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band Green Day, known as “the Bookmobile,” along with a car featured in the band’s music videos for “Holiday” and “Boulevard of Broken Dreams.” A dedicated in-house team specializes in these higher-value and unusual vehicles, working to bring the greatest possible return for the wishes and children’s hospital charities they help fund.
“Vehicle donations from Wheels For Wishes help Make-A-Wish Minnesota grant wishes across the state each year and we are grateful for the partnership,” Make-A-Wish Minnesota President & CEO Paul Krueger said. “We wholeheartedly believe every child facing a critical illness needs a wish. Programs like this help make sure we can reach more kids and give them an experience that impacts not only them but their families and communities.”
Donors can hand over the keys and let Wheels For Wishes handle the rest — free pickup, paperwork and sale — with proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish and granting a wish for a child in their community. More about how a donated vehicle becomes a granted wish is available at:

Having reached $200 million, Wheels For Wishes is proud to keep growing its support for Make-A-Wish, continuing to turn everyday vehicle donations into wishes granted for kids facing critical illness.
