FMG Leading — a strategic advisory and market intelligence firm that partners with healthcare investors and executives to drive performance across the investment lifecycle — has added healthcare strategy and transformation expert Doug Van Wie. The addition further aligns FMG Leading’s capabilities with the needs of investor-backed organizations looking to add value and mitigate risk as they deploy purpose-driven capital into the rapidly evolving healthcare system.
Mr. Van Wie, who joins as a Managing Director, brings deep expertise spanning M&A and post-transaction advisory, commercial and vendor due diligence, enterprise growth strategy, value creation planning, transformation governance, and executive relationship management. He has advised CEOs and private equity sponsors along pathways to scale, from first 100 days to pre-exit strategic planning; supported 100+ transactions including a $5B specialty practice acquisition and a $2B healthcare IT deal; and led growth and value creation work across providers, payers, pharmacy, and health technology platforms.
FMG Leading adds Mr. Van Wie shortly after its acquisition of market intelligence and strategic advisory firm BroadBranch Advisors, a deal that provides its growing client base with end-to-end value creation capabilities and proprietary insights. The firm combines market intelligence, organizational health, and deep business insight to accelerate speed to value within the investor-backed healthcare ecosystem.
“Healthcare investors and executives are navigating tremendous complexity tied to reimbursement, technological advancements, and shifting care delivery models,” said Matt Brubaker, CEO and Chairman of FMG Leading. “Strategic advisors like Doug, who have helped leaders and organizations succeed amid these challenges, bring the experience and expertise our clients need to de-risk their organizations and seize market opportunities.”
“Today’s healthcare leaders require a combination of deep insight and expert advice to help them build organizations that genuinely make healthcare work, better,” said Mr. Van Wie. “I am proud to be part of a team focused on helping clients make confident strategic decisions that drive industry-leading business and clinical outcomes, from entry to exit.”
Prior to joining FMG Leading, Mr. Van Wie co-founded L.E.K. Consulting’s Atlanta office and started the firm’s pharmacy practice, where he advised several of the largest U.S. pharmacies as clients. He previously worked in commercial and product roles at healthcare technology company Influence Health, where he more than tripled annual client implementations and helped steer the company through its acquisition by private equity.
Mr. Van Wie earned an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design, cum laude, with a minor in Business from Auburn University.
