Dr Mansher Singh, Owner and Medical Director of Mansher Singh, MD, is raising awareness about the importance of realistic expectations, patient education, and long-term outcomes in facial plastic surgery.
As interest in facial rejuvenation continues to grow, Dr. Singh believes the public conversation should focus less on trends and more on trust, preparation, and informed decision-making.
“Facial surgery is deeply personal, and trust is everything,” Dr. Singh said. “Patients are trusting you with their face, their confidence, and often a very emotional journey. That responsibility should never be taken lightly.”
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, facial procedures remained in high demand in 2023. Facelifts increased by 8 percent, while eyelid surgery increased by 5 percent. The organisation also released its 2024 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, showing continued national interest in aesthetic health.
Dr. Singh said those numbers reflect a wider shift in how people think about ageing, appearance, and confidence. But he also believes demand must be matched with better public understanding.
“One of the greatest challenges has been building a practice centred around trust, consistency, and long-term results in an era dominated by instant gratification and social media,” Dr. Singh said. “There are no shortcuts when it comes to achieving natural, elegant outcomes that stand the test of time.”
Dr. Singh, who trained at institutions associated with Yale School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, said facial plastic surgery requires more than technical skill. It also requires honesty, judgement, and communication.
“Not every patient is a candidate for surgery,” Dr. Singh said. “Part of being a responsible surgeon is having transparent conversations, setting realistic expectations, and always prioritising what is best for the patient.”
The issue is especially important as social media continues to shape public views of beauty and self-image. The U.S. Surgeon General has reported that social media use is nearly universal among young people, with up to 95 percent of teenagers and 40 percent of children ages 8 to 12 using social media. While facial surgery patients are often adults, Dr. Singh said the wider culture of filtered images and fast comparisons can affect how people view themselves.
“I think one of the most important lessons I have learned is that recovery is often a journey rather than an overnight transformation,” Dr. Singh said. “Success in surgery is not defined by perfection alone, but by how you respond when challenges arise.”
Dr. Singh’s own career has been shaped by long-term discipline. Born and raised in India, he grew up in a family of doctors and became the 11th doctor in his family. He later attended the All India Institute of Medical Sciences before moving to the United States for advanced surgical training.
That path shaped how he thinks about patient care today.
“One mindset that has shaped me tremendously is what I often describe as an immigrant mentality,” Dr. Singh said. “You focus on controlling what you can control — your work ethic, your preparation, and the effort you put in every day.”
Dr. Singh is encouraging people to slow down, learn from credible sources, understand that healing takes time, and think carefully about their personal goals before making decisions about facial rejuvenation.
“My goal is to create results that look natural, elegant, and continue to age well over many years,” Dr. Singh said. “The best outcomes are often the ones that do not look surgical.”
The call to action, Dr. Singh said, is simple: make education part of the conversation. People can spend more time learning about recovery, qualifications, risks, and realistic outcomes. They can also look beyond online trends and focus on what feels healthy, personal, and sustainable for their own lives.
“Ultimately, I think success is best measured by consistency over time,” Dr. Singh said. “Consistently producing natural outcomes, earning patient trust, continuing to grow, and maintaining integrity throughout the process.”
