Qualifying nonprofits can distribute assistance, stipends, and reimbursements while connecting recipients with no-cost digital accounts and virtual debit cards.
PHOENIX, AZ, UNITED STATES, November 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The Tech4Equity Project™ today announced its nationwide expansion, giving qualifying nonprofit organizations access to digital payment and financial tools without adding core program costs. Originally launched in Arizona, the initiative helps nonprofits deliver emergency assistance, stipends, reimbursements, and other payments more efficiently while improving financial access for the people they serve, particularly those who are unbanked or underbanked.
For nonprofits managing limited resources, getting funds to the people who need them can be surprisingly complicated. A payment may be approved and ready for distribution, yet the recipient still faces delays, check-cashing expenses, or the inconvenience of accessing funds through traditional channels. Meanwhile, staff must manage payment processing, follow-up, and administrative work that takes time away from other organizational priorities.
The financial access challenge remains substantial. According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation’s 2023 National Survey of Unbanked and Underbanked Households, approximately 24.6 million U.S. households, or 18.4%, were unbanked or underbanked.
“Getting someone the financial assistance they need is important. Making sure they can actually access and use that money is just as important,” said Andre Christian, Executive Director of The Tech4Equity Project. “I’ve spent years talking with nonprofit leaders who are already stretching limited resources to support their communities. We created the program to help them remove another barrier for the people they serve—giving those individuals access to financial tools that others take for granted, without adding another expense to the organization’s budget.”
Digital Payments and Financial Access for Nonprofits
Through its partnership with Rellevate™, an established fintech provider specializing in digital banking and disbursement solutions, The Tech4Equity Project helps nonprofit organizations connect the people they serve with no-cost digital bank accounts and virtual debit cards, while enabling electronic disbursements designed to make funds more accessible to eligible recipients.
The Tech4Equity Project works through trusted nonprofit relationships, bringing financial access into the programs and services those organizations already provide. The program helps nonprofits provide emergency assistance to families, stipends to students, payments and reimbursements to workforce participants and volunteers, and ongoing financial support to those in need.
The initiative also supports earned wage access for eligible employees, allowing them to access a portion of wages already earned between regular pay periods. This can provide additional financial flexibility without changing an organization’s underlying mission or requiring it to develop its own financial services infrastructure.
For program administrators, digital distribution can reduce reliance on paper checks and manual payment processes. For unbanked and underbanked individuals, it offers access to everyday financial capabilities—receiving money electronically, using a debit card, and paying bills digitally—that many Americans take for granted. These tools can reduce reliance on costly financial alternatives and help eligible participants participate more equitably in everyday economic life.
Rellevate Technology, Program Eligibility, and Costs
The nationwide expansion builds on Rellevate’s established financial technology platform, which helps government agencies, nonprofits, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and businesses distribute funds securely and efficiently. With expertise in digital accounts, payment distribution, and financial services infrastructure, including programs with complex disbursement requirements, Rellevate provides an established foundation for extending The Tech4Equity Project to nonprofit organizations throughout the United States.
The initiative is designed to give participating nonprofits access to these capabilities while allowing them to retain control of their programs, funding decisions, and relationships with the individuals they serve.
The process is straightforward. Nonprofit organizations serving a combined total of at least 50 staff members, volunteers, or program participants can apply to determine their eligibility and, once approved, invite participants to enroll. Participation is voluntary, and eligible individuals ages 16 and older can access secure digital financial accounts without credit checks. Organizations continue to provide and authorize funds distributed through their programs, while Rellevate’s platform facilitates digital delivery and access. The Tech4Equity Project does not hold or manage participant funds.
There are no setup fees or monthly program charges for qualifying organizations, and no additional IT infrastructure is required. Eligible participants receive core financial services at no cost, including next-day transfers, bill payments, and two in-network ATM withdrawals per month. Certain optional services, such as expedited transfers or customized branding, may carry fees. These charges are disclosed in advance and are not required for core participation. Enrollment and services remain subject to applicable eligibility and program terms.
