The new five-song album amplifies stories of memory, belonging, and hope from organizations working to advance justice and inspire change.

ST. DAVIDS, PA, UNITED STATES, October 26, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Christians for Social Action (CSA) and Common Hymnal have released Storybook, Vol. 2, a five-song collaborative album exploring memory, identity, justice, and belonging through original music. The album is available on major streaming platforms, with accompanying music videos for all five songs now available on YouTube.

Created through the second cohort of CSA’s Storytellers Collective, the album features music inspired by Truth’s Table Foundation, Virago Rising, Eloheh, the Center for Restorative Justice, and Liberated Together.

The project brings together musicians, storytellers, and organizations working toward justice and restoration. Rather than beginning with traditional songwriting sessions, Common Hymnal artists spent time listening to the experiences of participating communities, allowing their stories to shape the music.

“We are surrounded by stories all the time, but we don’t always stop to ask whose stories are shaping us,” said Nikki Toyama-Szeto, executive director of Christians for Social Action. “Part of loving our neighbors is learning to pay attention to their histories, their experiences, and what they might be able to show us about the world that we couldn’t see on our own.”

The album’s five tracks explore different dimensions of memory, courage, and belonging.

“We Are the Echo,” inspired by Virago Rising, honors the faith and courage of women across generations. “Hands Full of Hope,” created alongside Truth’s Table, celebrates solidarity, truth-telling, and hope. “Remember,” shaped by the Center for Restorative Justice, explores the importance of acknowledging painful histories.

“You Will See Me,” inspired by Liberated Together, amplifies voices that have too often gone unheard, while “Time & Place,” drawn from a CSA story, wrestles with identity, pain, and belonging.

“Songs have always helped communities remember,” said Malcolm du Plessis, founder of Common Hymnal. “They carry stories from one generation to another. They give us a way to hold grief and hope, history and possibility, without pretending that any of those things are simple.”

Storybook, Vol. 2 continues the collaboration between CSA and Common Hymnal that began with the first Storybook album in March 2026. That seven-song collection explored gospel hope amid uncertainty. The new album turns toward questions of whose stories are remembered, whose voices are heard, and how music can connect listeners with experiences beyond their own.

“For us, listening is where storytelling starts,” said Avril Speaks, director of the Storytellers Collective. “We aren’t looking for a clean or inspiring version of someone’s story. We want to make room for what is actually there — the joy and the pain, the questions, the history, and the things people are still figuring out.”

The album arrives at a time when political and cultural divisions frequently reduce complex experiences to competing narratives. Through music, the project offers opportunities for listeners to encounter unfamiliar perspectives and consider the stories that shape communities.

“We hope these songs help people hear stories they might not otherwise encounter,” said Toyama-Szeto. “And maybe, in listening to someone else’s story, we begin to understand our neighbors, and even our own stories, a little differently.”

The complete album is available now on all streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.
