New appointments bring deep Medicaid policy, healthcare operations, 
and organizational growth expertise

The appointments strengthen ProgenyHealth’s leadership as the company continues to expand its impact and advance its mission to improve maternal and infant health outcomes nationwide.

Melanie Bella has joined ProgenyHealth’s Board of Managers. Bella is an Executive Advisor at Cressey & Company and a member of the firm’s Distinguished Executives Council. She also serves as Chair of the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission. With 22 years of Medicaid experience, she brings deep expertise in health policy, government programs, value-based care, and services for people who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid.

Previously, Bella served as Executive Vice President of Policy and Duals Strategy for Cityblock Health, a value-based provider focused on Medicaid and dual-eligible populations. She was the first Director of the Medicare-Medicaid Coordination Office at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and previously served as Medicaid Director for the state of Indiana. Bella earned a Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School and a bachelor’s degree from DePauw University.

Alec DiDonato has been appointed Chief Operating Officer. He will help drive continued growth, performance, innovation, and service excellence across the company’s national footprint.

Before joining ProgenyHealth, DiDonato served as Chief Operating Officer at Author Health and as General Manager and Senior Vice President at Evolent Health, where he played key roles in expanding operations and supporting organizational growth. He has built a career leading high-performing teams, improving operational effectiveness, and using technology and data to enhance healthcare delivery and member experiences.
