Company highlights the importance of trusted onboard intelligence across the U.S. drone industrial base
PORTLAND, OR, UNITED STATES, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Sightline Intelligence, a provider of field-proven vision intelligence for mission-critical defense and unmanned systems, today responded to the Administration’s continued efforts to strengthen America’s drone industry and supply chain and reduce reliance on foreign sources for critical drone technologies.
As outlined in the White House fact sheet, the Administration’s latest action imposes tariffs on certain imported drones and components and establishes a path to support new U.S. investment in drone and component manufacturing. The proclamation notes that drones are critical to present and future U.S. military operations and that reliance on foreign sources for critical UAS components creates national security and cybersecurity risks.
“American drone dominance depends on secure access to the critical technologies that make these platforms effective in the field,” said Jon Atwood, CEO of Sightline Intelligence. “That includes the processing and vision software onboard the platform. Sightline is strengthening that technology base by giving U.S. drone manufacturers access to trusted onboard vision technology for the systems they are building today and in the future.”
Sightline meets applicable National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliance standards and provides embedded vision intelligence for mission-critical defense, security and unmanned systems. Its software delivers real-time video processing, Aided Target Recognition (AiTR), persistent tracking and operator decision support at the tactical edge, helping OEMs, payload providers and systems integrators add mission-ready capability without building the full technology stack themselves.
As U.S. drone production expands, Sightline remains committed to helping build a trusted, resilient, and scalable domestic drone ecosystem and giving customers access to mission-ready vision intelligence they can integrate with confidence.
