BICOM’s two-way digital wireless intercoms let up to 16 users talk at once without pressing a button, for sites, broadcast crews and referees.

SOUTH KOREA, October 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — BICOM Inc., a South Korean research and development company specializing in wireless communication systems, is presenting its line of two-way digital wireless intercoms to field teams that need to talk while keeping both hands free. The devices operate in the 902–928 MHz band and, according to the company, support real-time group conversation for up to 16 users in their North American configuration.

Unlike a conventional walkie-talkie, the system is designed so that users can speak continuously, as if on a phone call, without pressing a push-to-talk (PTT) button. BICOM describes the intercom as a tool for short-range communication between workers and team members, and lists field workers, construction site managers, broadcast filming staff, plant managers and sports referees among its typical users.

How the Talk Group Works
In the standard setup, up to 16 devices can be set as full “USER” units that talk and listen at the same time. An unlimited number of additional “Listen Only” devices can be added to follow the conversation, which the company notes is possible in theory without a fixed upper limit.

A second mode combines 15 USER devices with “Listen/PTT” units. These devices listen to the conversation and can join it by pressing the PTT button; when the button is released, another Listen/PTT user can take a turn. The number of Listen/PTT users who can talk at the same time depends on how many devices are set as USER. In one example from the company, a group of 30 devices with 6 USER units allows 10 of the 24 Listen/PTT devices to join the conversation simultaneously.

Built for Noise, Privacy and Long Shifts
The intercoms are equipped with a noise-canceling microphone intended to transmit clear voice even in loud environments, and BICOM states that the devices passed a vehicle noise simulator booth test. Noise reduction pads on the headset models help shield users from external noise. Voice is digitally encrypted to prevent eavesdropping, and dual modulation is used to avoid analog noise.

Additional functions include a PA mode for connecting external speakers and an ambient sound mode that amplifies surrounding sounds when the user needs to hear what is happening nearby. The devices use an OLED display.

Four Form Factors

BICOM offers the intercom in several designs. The All-in-One models, available with a dual muff, a single muff or as a version that attaches to a helmet, offer a line-of-sight range of 1 km, a battery life of 17 hours and a weight of 535 g. The Belt Pack with headset weighs 190 g, reaches 1 km line of sight with a transmission output of 250 mW or 1 W, and runs for 10 hours. The ultra-small Walkie-Talkie Type with earset weighs 75 g, covers 700 m line of sight and runs for more than 10 hours.

All versions use rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, TDMA transmission and an operating temperature range of -10 to +50°C. The company positions the products for industrial sites, security guards, military bases, sports referees, tours and broadcast staff.

Field References in Korea
In its company materials, BICOM lists the Korea Bicycle Federation, which uses its digital walkie-talkies, and the National Sports Authority, which uses its digital wireless intercom, among its references. The company’s wireless broadcasting systems have been supplied to organizations including Seoul Metro and Seoul Transportation Corporation.
